Get ready to add a burst of flavor to your baking routine with our Garlic & Rosemary Challah Bread recipe. This simple yet delicious bread brings together the savory notes of garlic and the aromatic touch of fresh rosemary, creating a perfect balance of warmth and homemade goodness.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp yeast
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 whole egg + 1 egg whisked for egg wash
  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ tsp salt (we used sea salt)
  • 1 tsp garlic (fresh or powder)
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary

Instructions:

1. In a bowl, add 1 cup of warm water, yeast and sugar. Mix lightly to get all the yeast in the water and set aside for about 15 minutes. It should begin to foam up and you should see little bubbles.

2. In another bowl, whisk together the oil, honey and egg and pour the mixture into the yeast mixture.

3. Take a separate, bigger bowl and mix the flour, salt, garlic and rosemary.

3. Using the Danish Dough Whisk combine the wet mixture with the flour mixture. Continue to mix until everything is incorporated. Form 1 large ball of dough.

4. Turn the dough onto a very well-floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes.

5. In a large bowl, pour a bit of olive oil in and place your dough ball in the bowl. Turn it around so the entire dough is covered with a thin layer of oil. Cover and place the bowl in a warm spot (for us, it was the oven with the oven light on). Allow to rest and rise for 1 ½ hours until doubled in size.

6. When the dough is ready you can take it out of the bowl and divide it into 3 pieces (our Smart Scraper makes it super easy to divide your dough).

7. Roll each piece into a long rope all of equal sizes and continue with the desired braid.

8. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and place challah on the baking sheet. Brush it with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sea salt and chopped rosemary. Allow to rest for another 30 minutes.

9. Bake the challah for about 30 minutes or until the top is lightly golden brown.
